Petsche’s Shoes, located in downtown Kitchener, is one of the few retailers that have weathered every economic storm for six decades, and today it continues to flourish.

A family-owned and operated business since 1954, the footwear retail operation was founded by Gustav and Edeltraut Petsche until 1988, when, due to illness, daughter Anita Petsche Good took over, carrying on her father’s commitment and vision to provide superlative and knowledgeable customer service and a high-quality product.

Although the store’s address on King Street has changed three times over the years, customers who have been coming here to shop for two and more generations will find that some things remain the same such as being treated with respect, fairness, patience and a touch of humour – signature qualities for which Petsche’s Shoes has always been known.

The business still caters to “shoes for the entire family”, and all staff members are experienced in sizing and fitting children with all their footwear needs. The men’s and women’s collections are comprised of lines from around the world, specializing in the latest fashions combined with exceptional comfort.

Increasingly, the demand for orthopaedic and extra-deep footwear to accommodate custom orthotics has also caused the collection to grow in that direction.
