Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) for Colorectal (Colon & Rectal) Diseases. Dr. Robin Boushey’s main clinical interests focus on all types of colorectal diseases such as colon and rectal cancer, hemorrhoids, fissures and pilonidal abscesses, with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Robin Boushey is a minimally invasive surgeon and a colorectal surgeon at the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus. He offers state of the art surgical techniques to patients, including MIS, Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEMS), and Hand-assisted Laparoscopic Surgery (HALS). Several of the procedures can be performed with an incision less than five centimetres. Some cases may even be done with no abdominal incisions. He also performs diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopies and takes care of many patients for endoscopic removal of large colonic polyps and tumours.
Dr. Robin Boushey joined the University of Ottawa in 2005 and also serves as the Research Director for the Division of General Surgery. He is actively involved in continuing minimally invasive surgery training, education and research. Dr. Robin Boushey sits on numerous national and international committees including the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons as well as the Canadian Association of General Surgeons.
