General information
Margaret’s Toronto East Drop-In Centre provides core services for
individuals who are homeless/under-housed, primarily within the
Dundas-Sherbourne neighborhood.
Days and Hours of Operation
Open onTuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Closed Mondays and Fridays.
The standard hours of operation are from 7 a.m. until noon (with extended
hours during extreme cold weather alerts))
The center is open when individuals are starting to leave the
shelters/hostels for the day. Our schedule coordinates with other drop-in
centers located in the vicinity.
Programs at the Drop-in
• Structured Programming includes daily meals, clothing security
program, nursing care, harm reduction, crisis intervention, mental health
and justice, and chiropodist and diabetes clinics.
• The meal schedule is:
. Breakfast: 7:00 – 8:30 a.m.
. Soup: 9:00-10:00 a.m.
. Lunch: 10:30 a.m. – 12 noon
Nursing care, provided in partnership with Street Health, is offered
Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30 a.m.
• Harm Reduction program is available when the Drop-In is open.
• Crisis Intervention is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and
Thursdays from 9 a.m. until noon, for individuals experiencing a crisis
• The Mental Health and Justice program is available to people living
with mental health challenges and who are involved in the criminal justice
system. The program is available Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 9
a.m. until 12 noon.
Special hours during Extreme Cold Weather Alert
Margaret’s Toronto East Drop-In Centre remains open 24/7 in January and
February, as well as during Public Health identified “Extreme Cold Weather
Alerts” (ECWA). During this period, individuals who are homeless and
street-involved can access the center for warmth, hot meals, and beverages.
The drop-in also offers support services including referrals to shelters,
and long-term individual support available to clients following the
termination of the ECWA. Given the vulnerability to the elements of most
clients, especially during freezing weather, Margaret’s Toronto East
Drop-In Centre is actively seeking donations of the following items:
• sleeping bags
• blankets
• coats
• socks
• undergarments
• hats
