General information

Exciting changes are happening here at Too Good To Be True. We strive to be continuously learning and improving on how we do things.

As the only maternity and children’s consignment store in the region, we are learning a lot every day. In particular, we have learned a lot about what sells, and what does not, and what our customers are looking for when they visit us.

It is 30ish children's clothing items per drop off and we ask that you wait to drop off more clothing until that is done, but no limit on other items. We currently accept all brand names in children's clothing except for ANY Walmart brands such as; George, Child Of Mine, Just You Carter, Walmart Carter, and Disney clothing, we have decided to stop accepting Walmart brands because it is affordable to begin with, but we will still accept Swim Suits and Foot Wear in those brands, as long as they are in great shape. The other more affordable brands such as Joe, Old Navy, etc. will be priced at a special discount price to meet a wider range of customer and consignor requests. Brands such as Gap, Gymboree, Mexx, etc. will be priced at regular price.

We will NO LONGER be accepting ANY items in BLACK GARBAGE BAGS! We have always required all clothing to be washed and folded and we will only accept ALL clothing, even maternity, in boxes. Garbage bags (or bags of any kind) are simply too difficult to organize and store and if you want your items to sell then they must be kept in great condition, plus you can fit more in a box if it is folded.

We will continue to accept any TOYS and LARGER ITEMS such as nursing pillows and bedding sets in BLUE or CLEAR bags only. It is important (and in your best interest) for us to be able to view items that are being brought in, in these large bags.

You can drop off your items at any time during store hours, no appointments necessary.

We will give you an online account, allowing you to see whether your items have sold or not. You can also check your balance. At any point you can come into the store and use your credit towards other purchases in store, or collect your cash. If you request $50.00 or more, we ask that you give us 48 hours notice to process a cheque.

The items that we are looking for must be in season, in NEW Condition, no stains, stretched, worn, washed out faded, woolen, holes, matted or melted fleece, knees worn, zippers missing pieces, buttons missing, frayed or damaged in any way. All Items must be freshly washed, clean and free of animal fur.

We accept children’s clothes from New Born to size 10/12, children's shoes up to size 3 in youth and maternity brand name clothes. We accept all brands in maternity wear. However, we do not accept non-maternity brand name clothing.

Other items that we accept are baby items such as swings, exersaucers, high chairs, 5 point harness strollers, etc. If we have too many of the one item or have over stock in a certain size, we may pass on that particular item until further notice. Make sure they are clean, not missing pieces or straps and no animal fur.

Toys are a huge seller for us, so we ask that they have NO missing pieces, must have working batteries (if required), as these items will not sell if people cannot test them. We are asking for toys that are current, and we do not accept porcelain dolls, video games and systems.

When accepting certain baby items such breast pumps and bottle makers, because we cannot test them if we find that they do not work within 2-3 days of purchase, we will refund them to reflect on the consignor's account.

If any items are not in the criteria of our guidelines, we will automatically donate, but if you wish to have your items back please let us know when you drop off. To help us process your inventory as quickly as possible, and to cut down on wait times, please take a double look at your items to ensure that they are within the guidelines outlined here.

Items we do not accept:

-Items that are dirty, damaged, torn, woolen, faded, washed out, missing pieces on zippers, holes, scuffed, stained, melted fleece, knees worn, covered in pet hair, out of season or smells like mildew or cigarette smoke, baby vomit, mildew stains or pets, etc.

-Items that require batteries but do not have working batteries included.

-Race tracks must have cars and figurines with them.

- Rinky Dinky miscellaneous toys, figurines, dinkies, and cheap plastic dollar store toys.

- Frames ornaments, keepsakes, photo albums without packaging.

- Cardboard puzzles, puzzle books, books that have figurines, and books that have been marked on, buckled, pages torn, or binding broken.

-Recalled items, or unless you also have any recall parts included.

-Car seats and bases, and bike helmets. As per Transport Canada regulations, it is illegal to sell them second hand.

-Torn, flattened, well worn, or stained crib mattresses.

-Drop down side cribs.

-Used Bottle nipples and cuppies etc.

-Teethers, Rattles, Rinky dinky small baby toys.

-Used undergarments, training pants, etc....

-Out door vest, unless they are sports brand names. (They do not sell and just take up space on our racks.

- Head huggers (wrap around the neck style).

- Used Potties, seat covers.

- Any type of belt, because they don't sell.

- Sleep Positioners

- Diapers, milk, any food.. etc

- Stuffed Animals of any kind, even new with tags for hygiene reasons.
